Big News - Message from the owner

Dear Let's Play Books Bookstore Community Member,

I have some BIG news to share - a couple of pretty exciting things actually!

As many of you know, I have been quietly working on hosting a literature festival for years, and soon it will be a reality. Thanks to an incredible partnership with the Bethlehem Area Public Library, I am excited to announce the time is now!

The 3-day festival will be held annually, the last weekend of March. We are working with publishers to have authors join us for their new spring books, we will host discussions, signings, celebrity meet & greets, and interactive programs for readers of all ages.

In related news...
As you may have already guessed, I have to make a few changes around here to accommodate the growth of our book services and events. In just the next few months, the bookshop is hosting off-site events in Bethlehem (Public Library), at Wildlands Conservancy, Emmaus High School and Yergey Brewing (tonight!), in addition to back-to-back weeks of in-school book fairs. As much as we love our bookshop, it is just not able to accommodate these events. In an attempt to focus on the part of our business that is keeping us afloat (and that we love doing) - we have to get real about our brick & mortar shop.

After months of evaluation, we think we have come up with an excellent solution. Following the Labor Day holiday, we will have a new business structure. Our brick & mortar bookstore - the one that we absolutely love - will be open Friday, Saturday & Sunday, plus hours on Tuesday evenings.

In addition to these hours, we will have a ton of events, regular author visits, extended shopping hours, and book clubs throughout the week.
For example -just

LPB Book Services - our consulting and event services business - will continue to operate 7-days a week. But, like many other bookstores, we have decided to attach value to what we offer, and get creative to keep our doors open and serve our bookstore family.  Our website will have updated information shortly about these services.

LPB Book Services include:

  • Off-site event services
  • School & business services
  • Individual support

I thank you for your time, and your continued support of our independent bookstore. In addition to what we have already shared, expect some wonderful things added to the shop. We will be returning to our roots with weekly story times, adding more stationary, gift and specialty items for fabulous gift giving! And wait until you see our new wrapping paper - unveiled in October!

Hope to see you this weekend,

Kirsten
