Meeting time, session # 3.
Kids entering fifth to seventh grade are invited to join Let's Play Books Summer Reading Program: Exploring Genres & Style with Middle-Grade Books. We've worked with our partners at Penguin Random House to prepare a month of great reads and help support important connections.
This hybrid (virtual & potentially in-person) summer reading program is for middle-grade readers. We've selected SIX fabulous books for our voracious (or not-so-voracious) readers. Each book offers an engaging and plot-driven story that the middle-grader will appreciate. All books have themes that can be discussed at a number of levels.
The program is 4 weeks in length (August), with families picking up the materials the last weekend in July.
The program includes SIX books, a book journal, one virtual session per week, one meet & greet virtual session with a special guest author (or more), and more! We expect students to participate in the weekly virtual sessions and we will encourage student dialog, not a lecture. We promote FUN and keeping reading FUN is a key mission for all of our programs.
Some of the books will be signed by the author and/or personalized.
Virtual Group meetings will be held on Mondays in August, from 5:30pm - 6:10pm.
Monday: 8/3, 8/10, 8/17, and 8/24
Additional special guest virtual meetings:
8/10 - Author Paul Acampora, Danny Constantino's First (and maybe last?) Date
8/17- Author & illustrator Victoria Jamieson, When Stars Are Scattered
8/24 - Author Kekla Magoon, The Season of Styx Malone
