Positions: Frontline Bookseller (p/t),  Senior/Lead Bookseller (p/t) and an internship (unpaid)

Frontline Bookseller P/T - TWO positions open, one at each store. Please indicate in your application your preferred store. 

Employment type: part-time permanent (8 to 12 hours per week) evenings, weekends and holidays required.

Minimum of two shifts per week, one weekday and one weekend.

Job Description

This position, under the direction of management, implements the shop's mission by:

* Greeting and selling to customers.

* Managing customer inquiries, orders and returns.

* Cleaning and organizing the bookshop daily.

* Assisting with on & offsite events as needed.

Required:

* 1 (or more) years’ experience working sales in a bookstore or another form of retail.

* Lover of books. A knowledge and interest in a minimum of one of the following: adult fiction/genres or non-fiction, young adult/teen fiction, middle-grade fiction or children's books.

* Proven customer service and communication skills, in person, in print, and on the phone.

* Able to lift/carry up to 50lb boxes and stand/walk for entire shift.

In addition to the requirements, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

* Strong work ethic and sense of urgency, ability to multitask the many facets of daily workload.

* Comfortable with technology and proficient in Google, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Senior/Lead Bookseller: P/T 

Employment type: part-time permanent (10 to 12 hours per week) includes evenings, weekends and holidays required. We are looking for one strong individual to join our team at the end: a bookstore

Minimum of two shifts per week, one weekday afternoon (2 - 6/7 pm) and one weekend (Saturday 9:30 to 5 or 6) or  (Sunday 9:30 - 4 pm). Both weekend days is also a possibility based on preference. Ability to act as a substitute during the weekday is a plus. 

Job Description

This position, under the direction of management, implements the shop's mission by:

* Greeting and selling to customers.

* Managing customer inquiries, orders and returns. 

* Processing book deliveries, inventory and returns.

* Assisting with on & offsite events as the lead bookstore representative. 

* Acting as the manager on duty during select times.

* Communicate and collaborate with Assistant Floor Managers at both locations. 

* Desire to make a positive impact and comfortable to work independently. 

Required:

* 5 (or more) years’ experience working sales in a bookstore or another form of retail or customer facing position. 

* Lover of books. A knowledge and interest in a minimum of one of the following: adult fiction/genres or non-fiction, young adult/teen fiction, middle-grade fiction or children's books.

* Proven customer service and communication skills, in person, in print, and over the phone.

* Able to lift/carry up to 50lb boxes and stand/walk for entire shift.

In addition to the requirements, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

* Strong intuitive skills to navigate a variety of customer types (individuals, authors, publishers, schools, community groups, etc.).

* Strong work ethic and sense of urgency, ability to multitask the many facets of daily workload.

* Comfortable with technology and proficient in Google, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Lehigh Valley Book Festival Intern: P/T/temporary 

Employment type: part-time temporary, unpaid. (3 to 8 hours per week) 

Let's Play Books/The End produces the Lehigh Valley Book Festival annually in March. We are looking for a college student (or HS senior ) to join us as we plan our the 2024 festival. College credit/independent study may be earned (dependent on your school). Excellent communication skills are required - both written and verbal. This position will work mostly with the Festival Director and committee leads via online communications. We are looking for someone highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Google and Canva. The position will assist in coordinating meetings, taking notes, and updating author/book spreadsheets during the planning stages. Then participate in the execution of the 3-day event, and finally help wrap up the week following. The Lehigh Valley Book Festival will be held 3/22 through 3/24, 2024. 

Experience in bookselling, Instagram Drupal 8, and/or HTML a bonus. 

Dates of internship: Oct. 15, 2023 - March 30, 2024 (of all holidays/break).
